Perez Hilton on Montreal Morning Radio
Don’t!
Caught his squealing show on radio here and can’t imagine why anyone would tolerate it.
There is virtually no content to speak of, once you strip away the sound effects that probably really appeal to a 2 year old, the voice that makes fingernails on blackboard sound like grand opera and the “I should have been the man-servant in Birdcage” rantings.
The attempts at humour are targetted at the same age group – 2 – 5. Snickering at anything with a sexual connotation and squeezing one’s rubber ducky does not constitute remotely interesting radio content.
Just how bad these segments are can be seen when contrasted with any of the locally delivered entertainment segments. Take Kim Rossi, for example, she and her morning show colleages deliver a lot of content and the commentary is witty, funny and targetted to adults.
Mario Armando Lavandeira (his real name) reminds me of all the other novelty acts where someone actually achieves notoriety because they are THAT bad (remember tip toe through the tulips with Tiny Tim?). Mario is another one of these and I hope Montreal radio is smart enough to stay away from trash like this and get good mileage out of good local talent.
The contrast is particularly jarring when you listen to Ted Bird – who truly is a wordsmith and then have to endure the infantile babbling of Perez. There oughta be a law!
